The National Medical Certification Association provides multiple eligibility pathways for qualified healthcare candidates, including graduates of approved programs, individuals with military medical training, and experienced healthcare workers with documented work experience.
Who May Apply for NMCTA Certification?
NMCTA certification is designed for candidates who can demonstrate education, training, military preparation, or real-world healthcare experience related to the certification they are seeking.
Graduate Eligibility Pathway
Candidates may qualify if they have successfully completed a healthcare training program related to the certification being requested.
- Completion of a medical assistant, phlebotomy, EKG, pharmacy technician, surgical technology, sterile processing, dental assisting, or allied health program
- Training completed through a school, college, workforce program, employer training program, or approved education provider
- Certificate of completion, transcript, diploma, or verification letter may be requested
Military Training Pathway
Candidates with military medical training may qualify for certification when their training aligns with the credential requirements.
- Military healthcare, medical support, corpsman, medic, laboratory, pharmacy, surgical, or clinical training
- Documentation of military education, service training, or healthcare-related duties
- Applicable experience may be reviewed for certification eligibility
Work Experience Pathway
Candidates may qualify through documented healthcare work experience when they have performed duties related to the certification area.
- Minimum of 6 months of related work experience
- Experience may be paid, supervised, clinical, employer-based, or hands-on healthcare experience
- Employer verification, resume, job description, or work experience letter may be required

General Certification Requirements

Candidates must complete all required certification steps, including application, review, examination, and credential verification when applicable.
